Power BI custom visuals for your reports
AI Transitioning publishes two custom visuals for Microsoft Power BI: RangeLenz, an interactive time-brush and numeric range slicer, and Optimus Hive Process & Task Miner Analyzer, which turns activity records into a process flow. Both are described below, with their data requirements, trial and licence terms.
The two visuals at a glance
RangeLenz brushes and filters any time window or numeric range; Optimus Hive Process & Task Miner Analyzer draws the paths a process takes. Each has its own section on this page.
RangeLenz
RangeLenz by AI Transitioning is an interactive time-brush and numeric range-slicer visual for Microsoft Power BI.
Optimus Hive Process & Task Miner Analyzer
This visual will convert activity or process records into a graphical process flow showing the different paths your business resources are taking to complete a process thus automating Business Process Discovery.

Dynamic Objective Line & Tolerance Bands
Plot a target line using either a fixed value or a dynamic measure from your dataset (Average, Min, Max, Median, First, or Last). Add customizable Above-Objective and Below-Objective thresholds (by Offset, Percentage, or Exact Value) with optional range band shading.
Flexible Chart Modes & Styling
Switch seamlessly between Bar Chart (including Reverse Bars), Line Chart, and Area Fill modes. Choose between Category Legend Colors or a continuous Value Gradient (Start-to-End color scale).
Stacked Bar Categories
Break down time-series bars by category with customizable per-series colors and an interactive legend.
Native Power BI Formatting & Accessibility
Full support for Power BI custom date and number format strings, High Contrast themes, native tooltips, bookmarks, and report filter synchronization.
RangeLenz: trial mode vs. full license
RangeLenz runs in its trial mode until a licence activates the full version; the two bullets below describe each mode in the publisher's words.
- Free Trial Mode: Includes core interactive date/numeric brushing, cross-visual filtering, drill-in zoom, and standard bar/line rendering.
- Full Licensed Version: Unlocks Quick-Set range buttons, Bar Categories & legend color modes, dynamic Data-Field Objectives, Above/Below Objective tolerance bands, and removes the trial badge.
To license the full version, ask us about licensing. Both modes are governed by the End User License Agreement for Power BI visuals.
How to use RangeLenz
Four steps set RangeLenz up in a Power BI report: two field wells are required, two are optional, and the rest is formatting.
Date field well
Add your Date, Time, or numeric sequence column to the "Date" field well.
Value field well
Add your measure or metric to the "Value" field well.
Bar Category and Objective
(Optional) Add a category column to "Bar Category" and a target measure to "Objective".
Filter and format
Drag across the chart to filter your report, or customize colors, axes, quick-set buttons, and objective bands in the Format pane.
Optimus Hive Process & Task Miner Analyzer
OPTIMUS HIVE – Process and Task Mining
This visual will convert activity or process records into a graphical process flow showing the different paths your business resources are taking to complete a process thus automating Business Process Discovery. Each path is identified as a variant, and the visual displays key statistics for each activity in the variant.
Variant 1 is always the most used path with the highest number of iterations. The higher the variant number, the fewer the iterations. If two variants have the same number of iterations, then the variant with the least number of activities has the lower variant number.
Activity Steps (nodes) are displayed as boxes representing an activity performed.
Activity Paths (edges) are displayed as lines showing the sequence of activities and providing details of the gap between activities.
Activity Steps can be dragged, along with their Paths, to change the layout.
By sliding the Variant bar at the top of the area, you can expand the graphic to show more Variants.

How is the visual used?
The visual enables the user to identify the time taken quickly, the number of iterations, and other statistics for each process variant and activity, providing the user with the opportunity to identify ways to improve the process, such as
- Identifying tasks that are candidates for automation, such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
- Identifying teams or personnel who are performing the process incorrectly or those that are most efficient.
- Compare changes in process performance over time or the impact of a change in the process.
- Identify choke points in the process that introduce delays.
The graphic format can be customized to match the rest of your BI environment.
Data requirements
The visual requires a minimum data set of:
- Case Identifier: A unique identifier for each individual business transaction such as a PO#, Ticket# etc.
- Activity: Activity / Task description.
- Start-Timestamp: The start of the activity. Used to order events.
- End-Timestamp: The end of the activity. Used for duration calculations. (optional)
- Cost: The cost associated with performing the activity (optional)
Common filters used along with this visual include:
- Process
- Organization / Team
- Period / Time
The case ID, activity and timestamp records this visual reads are the same shape as the event logs that Favus process mining software maps on optimushive.com.
Licence terms for both visuals
Both visuals are licensed under the AI Transitioning End User License Agreement for Power BI Visuals, effective October 18, 2026.
Read the End User License Agreement for Power BI visuals before you install or use a visual. For licences, ask us about licensing; for a problem with a visual in your report, ask for technical support. Both go through the same contact form, with the matching choice selected.
Questions about the Power BI visuals
These are the questions buyers ask first about the two visuals: data, the trial, the licence terms and support.
What data does Optimus Hive Process & Task Miner Analyzer need?
The visual requires a minimum data set of a Case Identifier (a unique identifier for each individual business transaction such as a PO#, Ticket# etc.), an Activity (activity / task description) and a Start-Timestamp (the start of the activity, used to order events). An End-Timestamp (the end of the activity, used for duration calculations) and a Cost (the cost associated with performing the activity) are optional.
What is included in the RangeLenz free trial?
Free Trial Mode: Includes core interactive date/numeric brushing, cross-visual filtering, drill-in zoom, and standard bar/line rendering.
What does the full RangeLenz license add?
Full Licensed Version: Unlocks Quick-Set range buttons, Bar Categories & legend color modes, dynamic Data-Field Objectives, Above/Below Objective tolerance bands, and removes the trial badge.
Which license terms apply to the visuals?
Both visuals are licensed under the AI Transitioning End User License Agreement for Power BI Visuals, effective October 18, 2026. It is based on the Microsoft Commercial Marketplace Standard Contract and applies whether a visual is acquired through Microsoft AppSource or directly from AI Transitioning.
Where do I get support for a visual?
Through our contact form: choose Power BI visuals technical support, name the visual and describe what happens in your report. Ask for technical support; licensing questions use the sales choice on the same form.

See the Optimus Hive suite on this site, or the short version of this page on optimushive.com, which sits beside the suite's product pages.
Questions about the visuals?
Ask about licensing either visual, or get technical support for one you already use. Both go through our contact form.
